Homegrown

Woodland retreats for the changing seasons

A boutique retreat
This inaugural project in the boutique accommodation sector was driven by a commitment to material authenticity and site sensitivity. The design brief specified the use of homegrown timber, with European Larch, selected for its natural durability, milled on-site to precise specifications.

Living within the trees
The site, selected from a 400-acre woodland, offered seclusion and fragmented woodland views, emphasising the tree canopy whilst allowing light to filter through to the treetop decks. The gentle contours of the site allowed us to build at heights amongst the branches while minimising the stairs to be climbed.

Immersive woodland experience
Designed with year-round usage in mind, the treehouses provide a welcome summer break or cosy winter retreat. The material pallet of reclaimed timber and rich tones, together with woodburning stoves and outside copper baths, create a peaceful setting enabling guests to fully immerse themselves in the surrounding woodland.

Delivering a complex build
The construction phase presented both technical and logistical challenges, requiring a highly coordinated approach. Through meticulous planning and a transparent project management strategy, the scheme was delivered within budget and completed in just six months.
